California Victim Compensation Board
Monarch’s team of project managers, instructional designers, and developers created five courses for California Victim Compensation Board (“CalVCB”). The courses needed to reach people all over the state and be able to break down a sometimes complex and bureaucratic process to help victims receive benefits. As it was not feasible to send trainers out to every location or provide telephone support to each individual, the solution was to create friendly walk-throughs of all the needed information in one place.
Meeting on a weekly basis, the client and Monarch team clarified project objectives and created a schedule to meet the client’s needs. Monarch also produced a style guide and design plan to be used for each course. Monarch took a user-centered approach that included extensive dialog with target audience members to gather input on course content and style.
Each course was designed to address the needs of the target audience using multimedia, interactions, and scenarios where the learner makes decisions that affect the outcome. The courses conclude with a course evaluation and learning assessment leading to a certificate of completion for each student.
To meet the client’s goal for continual improvement of the courses, Monarch produced a report analyzing the data collected from the learners. Based on this data, Monarch is able to make ongoing improvements to the courses.
